History of Caviahue

















When the mapuches went to the thermal waters of the volcano Copahue, they stopped their march in Caviahue, baptized with that name because it means party "place and meeting."

To 1600 meters on the level of the sea, Caviahue is summoned in a narrow and sharp valley to the east of the mountain range and the south of the volcano Copahue, taken a bath by the homonymous lake.

Protected by the Provincial Park Copahue, their streams, cascades and forests of prehistoric araucarias extend in the prairie, arriving until the base of the hills that stagger the solid one volcanic.

To practice sport fishing, the Unhealthy, Hidden lagoons, The Corner and Hualcupén offer good copies of trouts rainbow, brown and perches.

To arrive to Caviahue from the capital of Neuquén 352 kilometers, and 1570 kilometers they should be traveled from the city of Buenos Aires, for the national paved routes 22 and provincial 21 and 26. The nearest airport is located in the city of Neuquén.

In this mountain village, the nature has modeled a pure landscape that invites to relax you and to stop the march to admire the charming corners of the mountain range neuquina.
History of Copahue
The volcano Copahue that gave origin and name to the village, is the source of virtues of this singular region cordillerana. The mapuches was convinced of their wealth and powers for the spirit, and they baptized him with that name that means "place of sulfur" in their language.

To only 18 kilometers of Caviahue, near 388 kilometers of the capital neuquina, and to the feet of the volcano, of 2925 meters on the level of the sea, the village of Copahue rises with the thermal center, to which you can only consent in the summery season, of November to May.

The thermal baths of Copahue possess valuable properties that made them famous at international level and they granted them the guarantee of the World Organization of the Health. Their thaw waters acquire chemical attributes and minerals of different concentration, originating sources and slopes of green, sulfurous water, of Vichy, ferruginous, among others.
