The defense against the herbivores consists on thorns, hair urticantes, resins and substances that give to the leaves an unpleasant flavor, etc.. Many species possess very showy flowers, sometimes twice as much or size triple that the plant, generally of white, yellow or red color that you/they attract the scarce insects polinizadores.

It should be kept in mind that the favorable time for the reproduction is very brief (hardly one month), should take advantage of the vegetables this period to develop flowers, to fecundate them and to disseminate its seeds.
