General description

The relief of the landscape corresponds to typical of the proximities of the Andean precordillera, with staggered plateaus that they go falling toward the east. It is located among conical hills, of soft slopes and "thatched tops" of abrupt walls. Among the main elevations they figure the hills Lagoon of 1459 m . and South Twin of 1721 m .. The Black Thatched top, to the northeast of the lagoon, corresponds to the front of a wide basaltic plateau, located in the north of the Park. The Lagoon Blanca has some 1700 there is. of surface and about 30 kms of costs, it is fed by two streams of temporary flow: the stream Pichi Traful and the Flat Blanco's stream, and it is possible that it receives other underground contributions. Other lagoons also exist like those of the Hole, Olive origin Mapuche.

The flora corresponds to the characteristic of the western region of the steppe patagónica. Vegetation boscosa doesn't exist and the formation low and thorny arbustiva prevails. The Caulker, the Sen or Hangup, the Charcao, the Duraznillo, the Quilimbay, Neneo the Molle, the Colapiche, they are the species more characteristic arbustivas. These, in general, cover to the herbaceous ones as the Coirones that associates forming a steppe next to the Black Bush very open of low bushes. Cortaderales is also in places protected by the wind. In the mallines the Jonquil that prospers thanks to the humidity of the floor prospers. Inside the lagoon species exist highly aquatic as the Potamogeton and the Vinagrilla that form authentic submerged prairies and they are the main sustenance of the aquatic birds of Lagoon Blanca. The surf frequently the desenraiza and it accumulates them in form of dense mattresses on the banks of the Lagoon.

The aquatic avifauna constitutes the most remarkable in this Park. It is distinguished among all the species, for their beauty and abundance (it is considered that they live in the lagoon near 2.000 copies) the Swan of Black Neck. These build their nests in the banks, in general in places protected by Reed-maces and Totoras. The Cauquén Common, diverse ducks like the Big Plunger, Flying Vapor, Pick Tablespoon, Anteojillo, Crest, Picazo and other, they share the habitat with the Swan. Among the species zambullidoras the Silver Macá, the Big one, the Thick Pick and the Common one or Macacito are distinguished. Inside the gallaretas we should highlight the one denominated of Red Suspenders. Two species of gulls, the Gull Cook and the Gull of Brown Hood, long hours pass in the water and also in the borders of the lagoon. Of riverside habits we find to the different chorlos types and the Common Tero. They are also present the Andean Flamingos, those that usually form more or less numerous groups numerous surpassing the means hundred of individuals, according to the time of the year. The Andean Gaucho and the Choique are typical birds of the steppe. The reptiles are represented by some few species of small lizards (saurian) and scarce batrachians. As for the strictly aquatic fauna of the Lagoon Blanca, in spite of the rich zooplankton, doesn't possess fish, surely due to the presence of certain chemical elements not adapted for them.

A position of observation of birds exists on the Lagoon, with posters that indicate the most common species. From the sectional of Guardaparque they can begin walks for the banks of the lagoon.

The permanent and strong wind patagónico will force him to be sheltered. Without a doubt the best time to carry out visits is the summer. Then you will be able to already see grown to the pigeons of the Swans of Black Neck that will show an uniform grizzly plumage.
