Native species of the Coast

Narrownose smooth-hound    (Mustelus schmitti)

It is a small shark, that rare time surpasses the 90 cm in length, of demersales habits. Its rank of ideal depth is between the 60 and 190 M .s are fed on associated organisms the bottom, mainly crabs, other crustaceans and small fish. He is one of the ovovivíparos sharks of the region. The size when being born of the small sharks is of around 26 cm . It has a strange form when comparing it with the most typical sharks, by the form of his pedúnculo very sharpened that finishes in a fin of great volume heterocerca, in that stands out a lobe in the later end. It presents/displays two quite separated dorsal fins to each other, a head with short and decidedly blunt snout. Small eyes, espiráculos notables behind such. The mouth is provided with teeth ready in mosaic. The color is of a plomizo gray, darker in the back, speckled with small white points. It is fed on organisms next to the bottom or related to him. The crabs predominate in the diet; secondly they appear the poliquetos annelids and, thirdly, small fish, as much pelágicos (anchoíta, palometa, mackerel) like demersales (pescadilla and merluza youthful, brótola, beat) and bentónicos (testolín, lenguados, lengüitas).
